Papers, 1768-1862.

Papers, 1768-1862; they contain both notebooks and loose papers. One box contains nine bound volumes: a book of mathematics problems, dated 1768; a book of household expenses, 1828-1834, with some entries dated 1857-1858; a letter book; a book of reports on various prisons, hospitals, and other institutions; a book of prayers for days of the week; three volumes of sermons, and a volume containing a list of sermons preached. The other box contains a diary kept by Joseph Marsh Stanford in 1861-1862, and miscellaneous papers and correspondence. The papers include manuscripts of some of Stanford's published pamphlets and speeches; reports on New York Hospital, the State Prison, Bellevue, and other institutions; notes for sermons, and a book of sermon subjects; and a copy of the New York State Census for 1731. The correspondence includes, among others, letters from Moses Fisher, Samuel Hope, and Sam Medley, all of Liverpool.
